New Classes

Want to learn to dance like Christina Aguilara and Shakira?  Well if you add the hips from Shakira and the raunchy moves from Christina you have Reggaeton.  It is easier to learn than Salsa Solo, why not give it a try? Or if you fancy a great workout then learn Samba Solo and Cha Cha Solo details below.

Dates for your Diary.

As the summer holidays draw near so our class numbers drop, so it is necessary for us to merge some of our classes.

The Wednesday 7pm Salsa Solo Class will now merge with Thursday 7pm class or the Thursday 8.15pm class.

The Tuesday 7pm class will now merge with the Tuesday Intermediate class commencing in June.

Thursday 5th June there will be an additional class for the Tuesday 7pm dancers.  It will be held at Desmond Anderson from 8-9pm.

Wednesday 19th June all classes will be closed as the school is holding a Parents Open Evening.

Friday 18th July all classes will be closed as the School is holding an end of term Disco.

Horsham- Monday June 2nd and June 23rd we will be using the BEC hall as the main hall is being used by the school.

Listed below are our additional Absolute beginner classes for the Month of June.  Be sure to check back for the new classes in July.

 Votes for favourite dances

Have you voted for your favourite dance to be taught this month yet?  The dance for June has been selected and will be taught before the end of June.  If you haven’t chosen a dance you would like to learn then log in to the Member’s area of our web site and start voting.  If the dance has not been submitted then add the dance to the article page or email me the dance through our contact page and I will add it on your behalf.  Then if a lot of people vote for it we will teach it.  If it is one we have taught recently then we will add it to the video tutorial page

 Learn online

I have added a few line dance video tutorials to our web site. Black and Gold, Coastin’ Firecracker and I am currently editing and uploading lots more videos.  It is a bit of a slow process.  It took 7 hours to upload 17 videos the other day so please be patient.

I have created a taster page where a few dances have been added so that people can learn dances online when they visit our web site.   The bulk of the videos are in the Members area.  I am slowly adding the step sheets to be on the same page, they are all listed in the Articles section of the site as well.

All step sheets are normally uploaded to the Article page within 48 hours of the class. You can do a search from this page for the dance you are looking for.

Sometime in the future I intend to add an instructional video of every dance we teach so that if you miss a class you can still practice at home.  This will be available in the Members area only.

To become a FREE member you simply fill in your details then wait for the activation email.  Your account can not be used until you activate the email, so check your junk mail folder to make sure that our email does not get deleted. Then you need to make sure you add us to our buddy list or “white list” if needed.  Otherwise our mail will be deleted by your filters every time we mail you.

If you find you can not log in to your members area then it could be due to not responding to the authorisation email.  Once you join you will get an email asking whether it was you that asked to join, (in case someone signs you up with out your knowledge).  You will need to check your emails the minute you sign up.  There is a high chance it will go to your spam folder and if you do not click the link in the email sent to you then you will not be able to log in, so if you are having trouble accessing the area you will need to ask for the email to be resent.  You can do this by going to the contact page and submitting a support ticket.

April 2008 News

Well I have to say there is some strange goings on with my auto responder. This week it sent out my March Newsletter, which was obviously added in March, it’s a bit late for April Fools jokes. Hopefully you receive this one in April.

Anyway we have a fair bit of news for you this month.

Firstly I would like to welcome our two latest staff additions to the Live 2 Dance team. Firstly welcome to Lucy Anderson who has been teaching Modern Line Dancing, also Sika Tro from France who will be taking our Partner dance classes. Sika has toured with her dance demos to many countries and will extend our dance style range with the addition of Merengue (partner) Cuban Salsa (partner) and Reggaeton (partner). See the listing of new classes at the end of the newsletter.

Live2dance Web Site

This week not only have I updated the classes page, but I have also added a dances recently taught page where you can view the current line dances taught in our classes. Plus there is a Learn online page where a few dances have been added. Most of the instructional videos will only be available to Online Members but a few have been added to the site to show you how the online instruction videos will work. There are only a few instructional videos currently on the site.   It is a bit of a slow process as I have to teach each dance then edit the video so it means playing it back and if there is anything wrong I have to re-record it. It can take many hours for one half hour video to upload so please be patient.

Each time we teach a new Line dance I am now adding the step sheet to the site and a video clip so you can check you are practicing the dances correctly. Sometime in the future I intend to add an instructional video of every dance we teach so that if you miss a class you can still practice at home. This will be available in the Members area only.

Votes for favourite dances

We have had a few online votes in for specific dances to be taught in our classes so these will be taught over the next few weeks. If there is a dance you would like to learn add the step sheet to our Article page. Online Members can vote for their favourite dance. You can also put your requests in by email or in person.

You can choose what you would like to learn.

I have added a survey to help us make sure we bring you the type of class you would like added to our dance schedule.   We may find from the survey results that you would like a golden oldies night, or an Advanced night, or even pole dancing classes <grin>. Fill out the survey and help us create the classes you would like learn.

March 2008 News

Desmond Anderson School have received their Entertainments license, so most of the existing classes are now open. We have had to make some changes to our timetable and two classes will be affected. The first change is there is no Line dancing on Thursday at 9pm in the main hall or the small hall so the improver’s class is a one hour class and not two hours.

Having been closed for the last month at our Desmond Anderson venue means that most of you will have forgotten what you learned before the break so the instructors will take this in to account.

The new classes that we had planned for last month will now be scheduled as follows.
Salsa Solo Absolute Beginners starts on Wednesday 19th at 8pm and the
Modern Line on Thursday 20th March at 7pm.
This gives us one week to re-advertise these classes.

We have had numerous requests to open another intermediate class and an advanced class. There are of course different styles of Line dance now including “new line” with funk and hip hop music or the main line with pop. We have decided the best way to see what type of class you would like is to get you to choose by filling out an online questionnaire on our web site where you can vote for the type of class you wish to attend. The questionnaire will be added to our web site on April 1st.

Instructor Training Course
As we are now increasing the number of classes in our weekly schedule we are now taking on more instructors. If you are interested in finding out more about becoming an instructor please visit the instructor training link on our web site

February 2008

January has just flown by and we have seen a number of new dancers attend our classes and a number of old faces return after many years.  It is great to see the classes full of enthusiastic dancers.  As our numbers are steadily growing, so too are our instructors and we would like to welcome Lucy Anderson as our latest instructor to join our growing team.

We have two new classes commencing in February at Desmond Anderson School

Wednesday 20th Feb 8-9pm Salsa Solo

Thursday 21st Feb 7-8pm Modern Line dancing

We will have two new classes commence in March and 2 more in May so if you know anyone that would like to start dancing tell them to keep an eye on the web site.

As January was end of year self assesment tax returns for me I have got a little behind with the videoing I had promised.   I will be adding new tutorial videos for beginners and one new video for my Tuesday  Modern Line dance class.  Once this video has been uploaded I will ask the Tuesday class to try to learn this online to see how they get on.  This of course is open to anyone wishing to learn the dance please can you give me some feedback so I know how to improve the lessons on line for you.  Getting the video to the final stages will take around an hour to record and two to three hours to upload so please be patient as time is always an issue.

March 7-9th there is a Dance exhibition at Olympia where there will be a 100 live performances and 150 exhibitors. There will be 160 bookable classes to either watch or attend.  Some of the classes are from famous people like Anton DuBeke from Strictly Come Dancing.  If you want to attend any of the classes I strongly suggest you book online as a number of the classes are allready full.  I attended this event last year and the place was heaving with dancers.  There are places to purchase food and drink at these events but as always they are overpriced so take a packed lunch.

I have been slowly revamping all of our web sites, if you want to take a quick peek of me riding a horse up a set of steps in Mexico wander over to  www.linedancekrazy.co.uk and look at the "About Us" page where I have uploaded a few pictures.  Talking of pictures I am sure you all have some pictures of our dancers lurking somewhere, so can you email them to me for inclusion on the site. Line dancers create a great community spirit so lets show that here on the site.

Happy New Year!

This year has really gone by at a rate of knotts.  Each year seems to be flying by even faster than the previous year.  The New Year is always a good time for thinking about those resolutions you intend to make.  It is obvious that a lot of people decide to get fitter in the New Year as we always see a rise in the numbers at our classes in January  so here are a few new classes that we have scheduled for January.  Many of you have taken up dance and it has not just been a hobby but a way of life. So if you know anyone that you think wants to get out and socialise more, or needs to get fit then please pass this web site link on to them.

Here is a list of the new classes for January.

The new Thursday Modern Line class replaces the one we closed over Christmas due to low numbers.  This class will only remain open if we have around 10 people attending as it will be a free class for those that attend the Zumba class beforehand, so pass the word around.  This class is suitable for any Tuesday dancer as we will revise those dances.  It is not suitable as a stand alone class as we can not cram in to one hour all  the dances we do in a two and a half hour class on a Tuesday so please treat this as a revison night for Tuesday.

We are in the process of setting up a new autoresponder that will help us to stay in touch with our dancers.  If we have an unforseen closure this auto responder will help us get information to you more quickly.  At the moment it is still in the set up stages a bit like the new website so please be patient for delivery of your first autoresponder newsletter.

Along with a new autoresponder we also have a new format for our web site.  We need your help.  Can you email me any photos or videos of any event or class  with us that we could include on the site.   We want lots of pictures for our rogues gallery.  If you prefer you can upload the photos yourself in the article section.  In that same section you will find dance step sheets.  I intend to put all the dances we have currently taught in this section so you can refer to this if you want to practice or want to see which dance we taught on a particular week.

For a number of months now we have re-introduced an old line dance to our Tuesday class that we have done in the past.  This is something we intend to carry on this year. I will put a few golden oldie step sheets up on the site and you can vote for which one you wold like taught next by writing a review.  The dance that has the most "good reviews" will be taught in our next golden oldie slot.  If you can not see your favourite dance on the site then you can upload it your self for others to see.  The sooner you upload your favourite the sooner people will write a review on it.

If you wish to upload your favourite videos you will need to join as a Free Member as this privalidge is only available to Members.  Choreographers may upload their own step sheets or videos to this site.

Can you see yourself on this picture?  Check on the article section for further photos, you never know you could be on our web site for the world to see.  Please be patient as we are still building the site and it takes time to upload the content.

Upload your picture now to our site or email it to info at live 2 dance .co.uk for inclusion.

Since the weather has changed I have been asked by many
people whether I ever miss living in Spain.  I have to say that
there is no place like home at Christmas time.  Christmas is
not the same in a foreign country.  You do not realise how
much you take for granted.  The main thing I missed were
freinds and family. I supose that one is fairly obvious, however
what is not so obvious is the other simple things you miss
at Christmas.  Like driving down the road and looking at all
the decorated houses.  Looking at all the twinkling lights
against the dark sky background.   Christmas day being a
traditionally cold day.  In is not quite the same getting the
suncream out on Christmas Day.

Today I received an email from one of our waitresses in Spain
called  Yuli (pronounced Julie) and she sent me a reminder
of what Christmas can be like in Spain.  One of the traditions
is the sand sculpters get togehter and create nativity scenes
on the beach.

We miss Yuli.

If any of you missed the recent program about the Perfect Chrismas Dinner then make yourself a coffee and settle down infront of your computer for the next hour and just dream about being one of the guests here at Hestons dinner party.  It is totally magical and sureal.  Enjoy!

Have a great day with your family at Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.
